B.B. King - Joe Cool (Cover Version - For "Happy Anniversary Charlie Brown")

Joe Cool!! What a legend!! I was introduced to him in the Peanuts comic strips as a kid. And I think for any kid that loved Snoopy, part of what was special was that Snoopy wasn't "just a beagle". Snoopy always was more than that. And the idea that he could magically become Joe Cool was a guilty fantasy. As a kid, I didn't really appreciate the genius of Vince Guaraldi's music. Including his song, "Joe Cool", where he actually sang and delivered a wonderful performance, a song that is so laid back that it drips with "cool". As I got older and developed my love of music in general and jazz in particular, I really grew to love Guaraldi's music, including "Joe Cool". But I have to admit that when the "Happy Anniversary Charlie Brown" album came out and I heard B.B. King's version, I was blown away by it. While it was a cover, B.B. King made it his own and completely owned it. And his vocals and guitar playing are something very special. Something VERY COOL!! As it should be for Joe Cool!!!
