In this powerful teaching, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome reveals one of the deepest truths of the Christian life — that the believer is not designed to function from the sensory realm, but from the realm of the spirit. He explains the spiritual mechanics of victory through hearing, doing, & speaking the Word of God. Let’s break it down clearly and deeply 👇 “FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH” Faith is not a passive belief — it’s a fight. But it’s not a fight against the devil or circumstances — it’s a fight to stay in the Word & act on it despite everything that comes against you. 1. The Foundation of Faith (Luke 6:47–49) “Whosoever comes to Me, hears My sayings, & does them… is like a man who built a house, and dug deep, and laid the foundation on a rock.” Key Points: Hearing & doing are two different things. Many Christians hear God’s Word, attend church, even memorize verses — but they don’t practice it. The one who both hears & does is like a man who digs deep & lays his foundation on a rock (Christ and His Word). When the “floods” come — representing life’s trials, sickness, fear, loss, opposition — his life cannot be shaken, because it’s built on revelation and obedience. The one who hears but doesn’t do is like someone building without a foundation, on sand. When pressure comes, everything collapses. “The foundation is the doing of the Word, not just the hearing of it.” 2. You’re Building Your Life Daily Pastor Chris says: “You’re building your house every day — with your words & actions.” Every decision, thought, and word is a brick in your spiritual house. Where you are today is the product of the words you believed and spoke yesterday. You can predict your future by your current response to the Word. “I’ve made up my mind to do the Word — so I know I’ll always succeed.” That’s faith consciousness — not waiting for a prophecy, but building from revelation. 3. The Word as a Weapon (1 Timothy 1:18) “Use those words as weapons to fight well.” Paul told Timothy to wage a good warfare using the prophecies & words spoken over him. He explains: The Word of God is your weapon. Specifically, not just the logos (the written Word) but the rhema — the spoken Word that God reveals to your spirit for the now. Every Word that God reveals to you personally must become a confession — that’s how you fight. 4. The Power of the Tongue (James 1:26) “If any man seems religious and does not bridle his tongue, his religion is vain.” Pastor Chris emphasizes that your mouth is the steering wheel of your life. Key Teachings: Your mouth wasn’t given just for eating or social talk — it was given to create. Your current life condition is the result of what your mouth has been saying. Stop saying “I’m sick,” “I’m broke,” or “I’m afraid” — even if you feel it. Isaiah 33:24 says, “The inhabitant shall not say, I am sick.” You can’t talk contrary to the Word & expect victory. “Your mouth controls your life — it can keep you where you are, or take you to where you ought to be.” 5. Temptation and Self-Deception (James 1:13–26) Temptation begins with desire (lust) in the heart. When you meditate on wrong thoughts, you empower them. Similarly, when you hear the Word but don’t do it, you deceive your own spirit. Example: Your heart (spirit) is the soil. The Word of God is seed. When you plant the Word by meditation & confession, it begins to produce automatically (Mark 4:26-29). The soil doesn’t struggle; it’s designed to bring forth fruit — so is your recreated human spirit. “Your spirit is programmed by God to produce results when it receives His Word.” 6. Renewing Your Mind with the Word Acting from culture or natural training is not the same as acting from revelation. Many people behave well out of culture (e.g., bowing, respecting elders), but God rewards actions done because of the Word, not because of tradition. When your mind is renewed, you act not by conditioning, but by conviction — that’s building on the rock.
