Police used irritants to disperse crowds of Senegal fans celebrating on the Paris Champs-Élysées after Senegal won the Africa Cup of Nations. Senegal won the final against Egypt in a penalty shootout 4-2 following a scoreless regulation time and extra period. The win secured Senegal’s first-ever Africa Cup of Nations championship and prompted public celebrations in the capital Dakar and among expatriate communities in New York and France.
