A May 13, 1925 recording of Ossip Gabrilowitsch playing Saint-Saëns's arrangement of the Bourrée from Bach's Violin Partita No.1 in B Minor. Gabrilowitsch left behind barely an hour of solo piano recordings, in addition to both a truncated and full recording of the Schumann Quintet. This rare solo disc, heard here in a transfer effected and provided by Tom Jardine, to whom all thanks, showcases Gabrilowitsch's beautiful tonal palette, skillful use of defined articulation to shape phrasing, transparent voicing, mindful pedalling, and rhythmic vitality.
