Protesters on foreign soil like UK, Canada and US continuously fuelled pro-Khalistan fire. Violent protests were witnessed outside Indian Embassies, High Commissions in UK, USA. Recently, a Washington-based Indian journalist was attacked by radical pro-Khalistan protesters. The incident happened outside Indian Embassy in Washington DC as protesters were demanding Amritpal’s “release”. Now, the US government has condemned the violent incidents outside the Indian Diplomatic facilities. US State Department reiterated that violence is never an acceptable form of protest and criticised the pro-Khalistanis. The Department supports the First Amendment rights of protestors in the United States to engage in free speech. However, violence, or the threat of violence is never an acceptable form of protest. The United States government condemns recent violent incidents that have taken place during protests at Indian diplomatic facilities in the United States,” said US State Department Spokesperson to ANI. Hundreds of Khalistan supporters including turbaned men protested outside the Indian Embassy in DC. Some of them hurled abuses at the journalist, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and brandished Khalistan flags. The Indian Embassy condemned the attack on the journalist by pro-Khalistan protesters. The US Department of State said that the attack against media person is unacceptable.
