The New Heroes, 1992 si-fi action directed by Roland Emmerich and first chapter of the Universal Soldier saga, starring the dynamic duo formed by Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. In the film, organized crime has a new implacable enemy: a special commando of soldiers who successfully carry out even the highest risk operations. But a journalist discovers that behind their invincibility lies a terrible secret, namely that they are former Vietnam soldiers rescued from death and resuscitated by the US Government. Among these are Luc (Van Damme) and Sergeant Scott (Lundgren), the latter with a real passion for violence. Both Van Damme and Lundgren took part in the 1992 Cannes Film Festival to promote the film, but once they arrived on the red carpet, the two started arguing and pushing each other in front of the cameras (you can find the video at the bottom of the news), forcing those present to intervene to divide them. Too bad that, as both stars later confirmed, it was a simple publicity stunt. "The film was complete but it still had to be edited. So I called Dolph and told him we had a problem," Van Damme explained during a guest appearance on Arsenio Hall's show. "We're here but we don't have any movies to show. So we have to do something special. Remember how much Sly and Arnold danced? How about we fake a fight on the red carpet? And he thought it was a good idea too."
