Mental health awareness | Sharmilla Shaheed | TEDxYouth@WASO

This TEDx talk will highlight the consequences of stigmatizing mental illnesses such as depression, as well as how to start opening up about it despite the harsh social setbacks that we might face. The talk was inspired by the bravery of many people who do step up and speak loud about their illnesses, and hopes to continue to encourage others to do the same. Sharmilla Saheed is an ex-student at GEMS Wellington Academy, DSO who is passionate about a wide array of social, cultural and political issues. She always looks forward to learning about our the rapidly developing sphere of awareness. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
