The three-day April Festival at Aintree is second in importance to Cheltenham in the UK. Aside from the marathon steeplechase the meeting's highlights include the Aintree Hurdle and Liverpool Hurdle as well as the Bowl Chase and Melling Chase. These are all Grade 1 races and the Fox Hunters Chase is run over the big spruce fencing. The Grand National course is triangular, with its apex (at Canal Turn) being the farthest point from stands. The Mildmay course, which is easier and has birch fencing, can be found inside. The Mildmay course's main feature is its sharpness, and the fences are more rigid than they used to be. Grand National has two circuits. It takes in 16 spruce fences the first time and 14 the second. This makes it one of the most difficult tests for horse and rider. The 494 yard run-in includes an elbow. It can be extremely challenging for horses, even though it is flat. You need one that can move. If you are looking for proof, take a look to some tapes. The winner almost always stays on the bridle as it leaves the back straight. Those that don't struggle to get home will be fine. You will need to have some horse to help you up the home straight. It is a long and difficult ride from the home turn to line. Aintree's best horses are those that can race well on the bridle and get into a rhythm. The Grand National course review is here to help you understand more about the Grand National Fences and what to expect this year! It's vitally important that you take time to recognise every aspect of this course as the Randox Grand National Course has been known for certain fences to cause problems.
