Significance and Story of Lakshmi Puja The festival of Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. Mythology: It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi emerged from the churning of the ocean on this day. Therefore, pleasing her on this day brings lasting wealth, happiness, and prosperity to the home. This day is also celebrated to mark the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after completing 14 years of exile. The people of Ayodhya welcomed him by lighting ghee lamps. Spiritual Significance: Lighting lamps conveys the message of dispelling ignorance within us and awakening the light of knowledge. Lakshmi Puja is performed during Pradosh Kaal because this period is auspicious and has a stable ascendant (such as Taurus ascendant), which ensures stable wealth and prosperity in the home.
