During the night of February 12, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck an arsenal of the Russian army’s Main Missile and Artillery Directorate in the settlement of Kotluban, Volgograd region. Local Telegram channels reported the attack. The strike caused explosions and a fire. Volgograd Region Governor Andrey Bocharov confirmed that a missile attack had taken place, stating that air defense systems had repelled the missiles, and that debris had fallen onto the arsenal’s территории, causing the fire. He also noted that due to the potential risk of further detonations while the fire is being extinguished, residents of the Kotluban settlement are being evacuated to ensure their safety. According to preliminary information, the strike hit an arsenal intended for the storage and modernization of the Russian army’s missile and artillery weapons. Local residents confirmed that a series of explosions occurred at the military facility. No information about casualties has been reported. Later that night, the Lukoil-Ukhtaneftepererabotka oil refinery in the city of Ukhta, Komi Republic—located about 2,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border—also came under a drone attack. The strike caused an explosion and a fire at the facility. Another facility targeted by Ukrainian drones was the Progress plant in the city of Michurinsk, Tambov region. The plant, which is part of Russia’s military-industrial complex, experienced an explosion and a major fire as a result of the drone attack. The factory produces equipment for control systems used in aviation and missile technology. Tambov Region Governor Yevgeny Pervyshov confirmed the drone attack and stated that a fire had broken out at a supermarket as a result of the strike. No casualties have been reported. The Progress plant had previously been targeted by Ukrainian drones in June last year, when one of its buildings sustained significant damage. On the night of February 12, Russia’s Belgorod and Bryansk regions were also subjected to drone attacks, with fires reported in both regions following the strikes. According to Russia’s Ministry of Defense, 106 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed across the country overnight.
