Thursday Morning Forecast: Warmer Temps and Low Rain Chances Continue

Meteorologist Ashley Renee has your 7:45 am forecast. Good morning and happy Thursday! Yesterday was a gorgeous day. Baton Rouge had a morning low of 51 degrees and an afternoon high of 80 degrees. The warmer temperatures are back and will stick around for the next few days. ESE winds will bring in warmer air and stream in moisture as well. The last few days weren’t humid, but that will change this weekend and next week. This morning, temperatures are ranging from the mid 50s to mid 60s around our area. This is the warmest morning we've had so far this week. Afternoon highs will be near 80. This will be another day with sunshine and a few clouds around. One stray shower could pop up this afternoon, but this will likely be near the coast. A coastal flood advisory will be in effect again today from 11 am until 8 pm for the southern half of Livingston parish, Tangipahoa parish, the river parishes and the New Orleans metro area. Breezy, easterly winds will cause minor flooding again in low lying areas and east facing shorelines. Easterly winds will be around 10-15 mph today like they were yesterday. Skies will be partly cloudy tonight and overnight lows will be near 60. Friday morning will be mild with temperatures near 60. Highs will be in the low 80s. It will be another pretty day with a mix of sunshine and clouds. Winds will continue moving in from the ESE direction for the next few days. This will help bring in warmer air and more moisture which will of course contribute to increasing humidity for our area. With the uptick in moisture, there is a chance for a couple of pop up showers tomorrow afternoon and evening, but most of our area will likely stay dry. The main factor for low rain chances and warmer weather over the next few days is a ridge of high pressure that will move in from the west within the next day or two. With that being said, great weather will continue this weekend and the first half of next week. Too bad it wasn’t this nice last weekend for Easter. If you’re heading to the Strawberry Fest in Ponchatoula or to any other outdoor activities, just make sure you’re staying hydrated and wearing sunscreen. Morning lows will be in the low 60s this weekend and highs will be in the mid 80s. Morning lows will also be in the low 60s next week and highs will be in the mid and upper 80s. Rain chances will remain slim through the first half of next week, but they will creep up a tiny bit during the second half of next week. Thanks for watching. Have a triumphant Thursday!
