More news on the government's car scrappage scheme now, as consumer experts at Which? stumble upon a few fishy price hikes. They found some manufacturers have bumped up the price of new cars by as much as 14 per cent since the scheme was introduced. An example is the Ford Fiesta, where a mid-range model's price tag has jumped from eleven-and-a-half thousand pounds last October, to over thirteen thousand this month. The advice from Which? is to do your homework, because a pre-registered or one-year-old car could present you with a better deal than the scrappage scheme.
