The Outfield Ground Ball Progression Drill focuses on soft hands, proper footwork and hand to eye coordination. 2.) Start out with no glove and the knee that is on your throwing side will be on the ground. Field the ball that is rolled from your partner, which should be right at you. 3.) The next step is to stay on one knee, but now add a glove and field the ball rolled from your partner. 4.) Progress then to doing this drill standing on both feet. Have your partner roll a ball directly to you and field it on one knee. 5.) The next would be fielding a ball that is rolled by your partner to either side of your body. This will require you to stay on your feet and not go down to a knee. 6.) For the drill progression when you are on your feet, make sure to crow hop and get into a good throwing position.
