Death toll in Haiti from Hurricane Matthew climbs to 339

Hurricane Matthew has killed at least 339 people and affected over 1.5 million people in Haiti, Haitian Interior Minister Francois Anick Joseph said on Thursday. The authorities also estimated that at least 350,000 people are in urgent need of immediate humanitarian aid. The strong hurricane struck the Caribbean on Tuesday with winds of up to 230 kilometers per hour, leaving mass destruction of infrastructure in the region. It is Haiti's worst natural disaster since the 2010 earthquake, which killed at least 100,000 people.
