Somalia - Marines Cover Bangladeshi Departure

(28 Feb 1995) T/I: 11:25:47 American and Italian marines took up positions at Mogadishu's airfield and sea port on Tuesday (28/2) after amphibious landings as the mission to evacuate U.N. peacekeepers from Somalia got underway. As soon as the marines consolidated their positions around the port, 900 Bangladeshi soldiers boarded a ship ready to leave the dockside. Some 1,500 Pakistani troops in tanks and armoured vehicles remained, parked with their big guns pointing into the streets around the airfield.
