Wide of protesters chanting STORYLINE: Hundreds of Syrian refugees and expatriates protested outside the Syrian embassy in Jordan on Friday. The demonstrators waved placards denouncing President Bashar Assad and chanted pro-Free Syrian Army slogans. Protesters called on Arab and Western countries to support and arm the Free Syrian Army. "We are demanding support and the arming of the Free Syrian Army, it is our main demand, arm the Free Syrian Army," said one refugee from Homs. In Syria on Friday troops loyal to Assad shelled two restive central cities and sent tanks and snipers into battle against rebels in the capital's suburbs. The action broadened an offensive that appeared aimed at crushing pockets of opposition less than a week before an internationally sponsored cease-fire is to take hold, activists said.
