The Netherlands, Germany and the Czech Republic reflect the diverse cultures of the European Union. Their governmental policies also differ from the United States in terms of access to reproductive health care and workplace policies that support women. While on this program, you will critically examine the differences in health and economic policies in the United States and three European Union countries. You’ll start by learning that the U.S. spends more money on healthcare than any other developed country and yet the outcomes for women are worse than other developed countries. U.S. maternal mortality rates continue to rise despite a global drop in the same metric. Additionally, the U.S. is one of a handful of nations in the world that does not offer paid maternity leave to women.
