South Africa has moved from level one to an adjusted level three lockdown. It came into force at midnight on Monday 28th December 2020, after an announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa. Another 336 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported in South Africa, taking the toll past 27-thousand. The Health Department is also reporting 7-thousand-458 new cases in the last 24-hour cycle. Eskom has warned that the power system is under severe pressure. The power utility has not indicated that it expects to implement load-shedding, but it has urged consumers to switch off all non-essential appliances and lights, as well as geysers and pool pumps.
