After India made its stance clear that Kulbhushan Jadhav’s execution will be viewed as nothing short of ‘premeditated’ murder, Pakistan should consider the consequences of such an action on Indo-pak ties, Pakistan appears to be having second thoughts. Just two days after a military tribunal pronounced its judgement on Kulbhushan, Pakistan’s Army Chief general Qamar Javed Bajwa met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. According to reports, Bajwa and Sharif discussed matters pertaining to professional preparedness of Pakistani army, the border situation etc. Even amnesty international has termed the death penalty given to Kulbhushan Jadhav as a classic example representing the Pakistani military court system, which is notorious for its secrecy, and riding roughshod over international standards. With Pakistan facing growing isolation in the international community over the death sentence given to Kulbhushan, it appears that Nawaz Sharif and General Bajwa are having a rethink over the death sentence given to Kulbhushan Jadhav.
