Israel on the Middle East - Media Stakeout | United Nations

Informal comments to the media by Danny Danon, Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations, on the situation in the Middle East. Ambassador of Israel Danny Danon said the meeting between Prime Minister Netanyahu and US President Trump in Washington “comes at a critical time for the Middle East.” He reiterated, “we are grateful for our deep partnership with the US. We fought shoulder to shoulder against Iran, and we are prepared to continue supporting the US in pursuing peace and stability in the region.” He said, “Iran has violated the MoU with the United States and continues to choose terrorism over negotiations. Iran continues to block the Strait of Hormuz and the launch ballistic missiles at 12 Middle Eastern countries every single day, halting trade, terrorizing the region, and killing American service members and innocent civilians.” Ambassador Danon reiterated Isreal’s “deep partnership” with the US, adding “we are prepared to continue supporting the US in pursuing peace and stability in the region.” On Lebanon, the Israeli Ambassador said, “we also appreciate the efforts of Secretary of State Rubio regarding Lebanon, and we hopeful to see the day that Hizballah is removed from the border between Israel and Lebanon.” He also commented, “Mayor Mamdani continues inciting violence in New York. Last week, he threatened our Prime Minister that he will be arrested when he comes to the UN General Assembly. And when he realized he cannot do that, it was a baseless declaration, he continued to demonize Israel and spread blood libels. It is no surprise that just one day later, a radical yelling ‘Allahu Akbar’ stabbed a Jew who stepped out of a synagogue in the Upper West Side.” Ambassador Danon said, “Mayor Mamdani promotes hate. It is dangerous. It is irresponsible.” On the passing of US Senator Lindsey Graham, he said, “Senator Graham was a true friend of the State of Israel. He was always committed to the security and well-being of the US and Israel. His leadership in Congress ensured Israel had the tools to defend itself against terror.” Ambassador Danon concluded, “the people of Israel will miss him dearly. We send our sincere condolences to his family and friends today.”
