King Charles III has officially been announced as the nation’s new sovereign during a meeting of the Accession Council. Prince William, Queen Consort, Camilla, Liz Truss, the Archbishop of Canterbury and Penny Mordaunt, Lord President of the Council were those to sign the official declaration. It is the first meeting of the council, which is made up of Privy Counsellors, Great Officers of State, the Lord Mayor of London, Realm High Commissioners and senior civil servants, since 1952 when King George VI died.
