07/20/56 Radio stations, except those participating in Conelrad, go off air for 10 minutes

(Show film) And in Roanoke, three stations, WSLS, WDBJ and WROV broadcast on AM frequencies of 640 and 1240. Yours looking at the Conelrad equipment, being handled by the director of Conelrad for this area – George Chernault, junior. Both the Citys TV stations were off the air from 3:10 to 3:25. This was true nationwide. The only radio stations on the air for these 10 minutes were those participating in Conelrad, broadcasting from 640 and 1240.
