Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with TN Mornings at 5 am and News at 9 pm.NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Tonight people are speaking out about whether suspended Vandy football player Chris Boyd should be allowed to stay on the team. A judge isn't the only one who will decide the future of the Vanderbilt Wide Receiver who admits he helped cover up a rape. What should University officials and Coach James Franklin do with Chris Body, the Junior who went from star to suspended? A University spokesperson tells us there has been no change to Chris Boyd's status. He is enrolled as a student but is not on the football team. Some people have problems with both. Boyd admitted that he played a role in the cover-up of a sexual assault involving 4 former Vanderbilt football players and an unconscious female student.Friday Body plead guilty to a misdemeanor. Now the question is what is his future at Vanderbilt? Should he be allowed to return to the team? Should he be expelled from school? Vanderbilt Freshman Max Greene expressed the most common opinion we found, that Boyd should be allowed in the classroom, but not on the football field. Some students see the situation differently. Engineering major Paul Register says he thinks Boyd should be invited back to the team, but he should pay his own way. Another popular opinion is the school should decide Boyd's future based on the University Honor Code, which says students who know of a sexual assault must report it.Many of the details of what happened the night of the alleged attack were revealed during Boyd's plea deal.
