The leaders of Poland, Slovenia and the Czech Republic visited Kyiv on Tuesday to demonstrate their support for Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala are the first foreign leaders to visit the capital since the start of Russia’s assault on Feb. 24. “We will never leave you alone. We will be with you. Because we know that you are not only fighting for your homes, for your freedom, for your security, but also for ours,” said Morawiecki. He also said the European Union should immediately give Ukraine candidate status and “more than this.” The Czech Republic and Poland, both members of both the EU and NATO, have been among the strongest backers of Ukraine since the start of the war.
