The president-elect has created a special task force, and the South Korean military has deployed cruise missiles to guard against further threats from the North. Our Kim Han-ul reports. In the wake of the North Korean nuclear test, President-elect Park Geun-hye may need to tweak elements of her initial proposal to improve the relationship with the North. She seemed to take a step in that direction on Wednesday, when her transition team announced that it plans to create a task force within its foreign affairs and security division to monitor nuclear threats from the North. Meanwhile, South Korea's Defense Ministry has announced the actions it will take to counter future provocations from the North, including another nuclear test or even a long-range missile launch. During a press briefing on Wednesday, the Defense Ministry spokesperson said the military has deployed its missile system, which is capable of hitting anywhere in North Korea. "In order to be ready for North Korea's threats, we have secured the ability to strike a target with cruise and ballistic missiles. We've deployed cruise missiles with world class accuracy and firepower that can hit anywhere in North Korea in case of a provocation. We will demonstrate the system to the public in the near future." The spokesperson also said that Defense Ministry officials are planning to speed up deployment of the so-called "kill-chain" missile defense system, which can destroy and deter missile threats before and after a missile has been launched.
