Coordination Webinar on the Horn of Africa Drought Humanitarian Crisis

Climate, conflict, and economic downturns are quickly reversing a decade of gains in eliminating food insecurity around the world. One of the most immediate food crises is in the Horn of Africa, where rainfall deficits during the recent spring 2022 rainy season have been the most severe in at least the last 70 years. The ongoing, four-season drought has been the most extensive and persistent event since 1981, with further drought expected this fall. Humanitarian relief efforts are urgently needed to respond to the risk of famine and help prevent large-scale deaths. Twenty million people are expected to require emergency food assistance by September.
