An east coast low has brought severe storms and torrential rain to New South Wales, forcing the Bureau of Meteorology to issue warnings from the Hunter to the South Coast. Several evacuation orders were issued overnight for parts of southwestern Sydney with one issued at 3am for residents of East Hills - particularly those in properties along Henry Lawson Drive and the Georges River. Evacuation orders were also issued around midnight for parts of Milperra, Picnic Point, Georges Hall, parts of Lansvale, Holsworthy, Moorebank, Warwick Farm and parts of Sandy Point and Pleasure Point. The situation in the Hawkesbury-Nepean region is worsening this morning with flooding above the 2021 levels possible today, which could see the area experience its worst flooding in decades.
