A senior al Qaeda official and local leader of the militant group’s affiliate Ansar al-Sharia has been killed in a drone strike in central Yemen overnight. Nabil al-Dahab, leader of Ansar al-Sharia in Yemen’s al-Bayda province, was killed along with four other members of al Qaeda, including Shawki al-Badani, local leader of al Qaeda in the Arabian peninsula, who was also wanted by the United States. B, and was believed to be linked to at least two plots against the US embassy in Sana’a, the capital of Yemen.
