Iraqi-Kurdish forces known as the Peshmerga have retaken control of a state-run oil field outside Kirkuk from fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). The Peshmerga are also said to have retaken several villages south of the Iraqi city. ISIL seized Kirkuk in June when the Iraqi army abandoned its positions there, but it was later taken back by the Peshmerga. Since then, the city has come under repeated attack by ISIL fighters hoping to take control of various oilfields nearby. Al Jazeera's Zeina Khodr reports from Kirkuk.
