"An ironical, poetic, absurd and touching wake. Five characters accompany the audience on a journey through the inexpressible and the ephemeral, revealing the strengths and weaknesses of the human in front of death." The scene opens with a wake, a custom recurrent in most places around the world: friends, relatives and acquaintance of the deceased in the same place for long hours to say goodbye and console each other. SPIRO reveals the personalities, relations and fears of the griefing through the composition of sounds, movements and images in the form of tableau vivants. The artistic research behind the performance - EFFIMERIA - dealt with death rituals all around the globe, aiming to bring them together in a wake that moves between cultures and forms of grief shifting between tragic, comic, poetic and absurd.
