How to Protect your Oil Paintings with an Isolation Coat & Varnish.

Protecting your work is a critical step, in my opinion. To avoid having that dull, "sink in" that can happen with oils where the paint loses its vibrancy and depth, I recommend painting an isolation coat over your painting (Galkyd is a perfect medium for this!) when it's completely dry then varnishing with a solvent-based varnish (I like the Krylon Krylon Gallery Series UV Archival Varnish). Watch this video for ideas of how you can do this at home. Note: the products I mention in this video are just a couple of the different products that can be used to protect your work, and I'm not being compensated for this video by any of these manufacturers.
