An anniversary that needs no introduction since... well... if you have been following this channel for the years I have started this archival hobby channel... you'll know that the first big upload for this channel was in 2015 with the whole double feature of a Pop-Tarts ad and McDonald's ad. And then McDonald's ad uploads would be the one of the two notable bread and butters of content for this hobby channel. The other being Barbie. And since this year marks the 85th anniversary of McDonald's, I thought it'd be only fitting to do a whole week full of Mickey D's ads. I can never escape those golden arches... Well to start off, how about a Canadian ad? Of sorts. This one was something I was meaning to get to since skimming through some Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network ad breaks... And seeing how Wicked Part 2 is out in theaters for a while longer, I thought it was fitting that I upload this now. Madame Alexander is a brand of dolls. I know absolutely nothing about it. But I do know that they did a collab with the original 1939 movie adaptation of Wizard of Oz. And apparently, these were featured in McDonald's Happy Meals in 2007 and 2008 respectively. This ad is for the 2007 iteration of the toys. The Canadian version of the ad is kind of a double feature of two 15 second ads, but unlike the versions I saw in American ad break videos, this one has a simple promo for the many choices that one child could have in their Happy Meal. This was apparently a cut down version of a New Zealand McDonald's promo. The other half is the toy bumper said promo, which has a pair of girls in Oz playing with their Wizard of Oz themed Madame Alexander dolls on a picnic sheet. The voiceover is featured later rather than sooner, and there's a bit of a bump for Ronald McDonald House Charities. Now this ad came from an ad break featured in a video by Zeroluckcanuck. The video was an episode of Ready or Not rerun that aired on BBC Kids Canada, which included some ad breaks. Of course, his channel got terminated and only a select few of his stuff has been uploaded to Internet Archive. I was lucky enough to download some of his vids before then, but not the ones that I wanted. Sadly. Maybe I'll upload what I have downloaded to my Internet Archive page. For now, enjoy this ad from the wonderful land of... McDonald's. We'll have more tomorrow. Footage property of Zeroluckcanuck. Uploaded for entertainment and curation purposes only.
