When people nowadays can easily eat the boiled vegetables & stuff cooked in the claypot by the fancy & luxury restaurants- the Bot chien only taste good being made & eaten by the roadside. Basically there’re only 2 versions of the it : Vietnamese- Chinese style which they deep fry the rice cakes into lot of oil till crunchy- the fried rice cakes should be made of rice flour & some tapioca starch for a little more chewy texture. They mostly cut into flat- square shape Chinese style is when you can see their shape thicker & longer- problably were made of all rice flour so the texture is more tender. The serving sauce is somewhat – same same but different. How & why ? let’s join us to try out the Chinese style Bot Chien made by Chu Thoon in dist. 11 The prices seem to be reasonable of around $1.2- $ $1.4/ plate- with not much fantastic toppings as we normally see like the preserved radish, fried pork lard, even no green papaya applied.
