The journey by road takes about 8-9 hours, depending on the route and traffic conditions. Alternatively, you can also reach Gangotri by train. The nearest railway station is at Rishikesh, which is about 250 kilometers from Gangotri. From Rishikesh, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Gangotri. The journey by train and road takes about 12-13 hours in total.
