MILES OTTO

MILES OTTO

So this is a real special piece. It's a link-up between BBC Introducing in Norfolk, electro performer Miles Otto and visual artist Liam Roberts. It was all part of an on-going project between the BBC and ATM (Access To Music) in Norwich. Students across a range of courses combined to bring this one to life. The concept of the film was all based around an homage to the art installation Embankment by Rachel Whiteread, which took place in the Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern in London in 2005. The installation consisted of massive columns of white boxes. So when the Business Development students at the college were given the challenge to come up with a visual concept to accompany ATM student Miles Otto for a session in the BBC Introducing in Norfolk studios, they hit on the idea of building boxes around him onto which visualist Liam Roberts projected a host of searing and vibrant images. In true DIY fashion they built the boxes themselves and working with the BBC set a range of cameras out to grab different angles - even the moment when Miles plays the keyboard with his nose! The result is a stunning combination of music and living art. With thanks to all the students who helped put this together with the support of course manager Wendy Roby.   / miles-otto   vimeo.com/liamroberts http://www.accesstomusic.co.uk/centre...
