STAND FIRM IN THE LORD'S COVENANT | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (March 16, 2025) We are on the Second Sunday of Lent; and today’s Gospel narrates the transfiguration of Jesus. Saint Luke tells us that while Jesus was praying on a mountain, “his face changed in appearance and his clothing became dazzling white” and with him appeared Moses and Elijah. Peter, John, and James witnessed this event; then they heard a voice from the cloud, speaking of Jesus: “This is my chosen Son; listen to him.” The transfiguration offers a vision of the glory of Jesus in his Resurrection after his passion and death on the cross. The disciples did not understand its meaning at the time. This luminous event is a source of hope for us: the cross of Jesus is not a meaningless or useless element of Jesus’ mission. His crucified body will become glorious. Similarly we who face trials in our earthly journey can look forward to sharing in Jesus’s resurrection. And it is going to be good, brothers and sisters! Remember Peter he wanted to remain there because it was good!
