This rare 1950s video shows the Sacramento Weir releasing water during California’s record floods (No Audio). The Sacramento Weir has been a critical component of Northern California’s flood risk management system since its completion in 1916. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its partners are giving the system a much-needed upgrade to battle future storms. The Sacramento Weir Widening Project involves widening the 1,950-foot weir an additional 1,500 feet and is scheduled for completion in 2025.
