Melanie Hartley - BBC Breakfast 29 April 2018

We were invited to attend the BBC Breakfast show on Sunday 29th April 2018 to talk about the law in respect of grandparents' rights and their ability to spend time with their grandchildren. Melanie Hartley from Ridley & Hall appeared on the sofa with Ben and Kat and Marjorie, a concerned grandparent, in order to explain the current law in respect of grandparents' applications and the emotional impact that a loss of relationship can cause which is now termed as dealing with a ‘living bereavement’. Melanie explains how this issue is being debated in the House of Commons this Wednesday with Nigel Huddlestone MP putting forward a proposal to change the law to provide grandparents' with an automatic right to issue a legal application to spend time with their grandchildren. Melanie Hartley is a Family & Matrimonial Partner at Ridley & Hall based in our Leeds office. Find out more about Melanie here: https://www.ridleyhall.co.uk/melanie-...
