Black Door Society honors community leaders at awards luncheon
The Black Door Society is preparing to celebrate local leaders, entrepreneurs and changemakers at its Community Excellence Awards Luncheon. In an interview on 7News, Black Door Society founder and president Sharrarne Morton and vice president Dr. Roselyn Aker-Black discussed the organization's mission of helping women — particularly women of color — gain access to opportunities, leadership spaces and professional networks. They also highlighted the group's efforts to recognize community members who are making a difference and to empower future generations of leaders. This year's honorees include community leaders, business advocates and media professionals, including 7News Anchor Michelle Marsh. Organizers say the awards luncheon celebrates individuals whose leadership, service and community impact help open doors for others.
