Working from home and caregiving at the same time during the COVID-19 Pandemic “Stay at Home” decree? You were working at a nice office in the Triangle and life was good. You and your husband recently decided to move your Mother into your home so you could provide care for her. You decided to do this as she was recently widowed living in in New York and was showing signs or early memory loss. Your Mom was a bit reluctant about this decision to move but is slowly adapting. You were concerned about her safety and well-being when you and your husband were at work, so you hired a part-time private caregiver to be with her throughout the week while you were at work. This started out okay at first but quickly deteriorated. The private caregiver was frequently late and unreliable, so you started to be concerned about the quality of caregiving. You were about to address this when life suddenly changed. The COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the “stay at home” order, you and your husband now work from home. You thought this would solve your caregiver reliability problem as you and your husband now are the primary caregivers. This quickly turned into a disaster. Managing a household with two small children, trying to keep up with your job while caregiving for your mom is making you feel trapped and you are at wits end. Something must give. What can you do? Where can you turn for advice? What life changes should you make to take care of yourself because after all, if you do not take care of yourself, how can you take care of your family, your Mom and most importantly, you? The answer is not well. This webinar will bring together bright minds in home healthcare industry to talk about signs and symptoms of caregiver burnout. What could happen if you do not take steps to address and things you could or should do during the COVID-19 pandemic to fuel yourself or what is frequently referred to as “self-care.” The webinar will start with about twenty minutes of expert presentation from Ann-Marie Sochia focusing on speaking to and advising our fictious Mother and Caregiver Silvia. Ann-Marie will then hand over brief prescriptions from panel members to discuss how they could help based on there are of home and self-care expertise. The webinar will conclude with open town hall Q and A session.
