Bikini covers have been popular on military NVDs such as the AN/PVS-15 and AN/PVS-31A, but have not previously been available for goggle systems utilizing PVS-14-style optics, meaning that end users had to rely on caps that must either be stowed in a pouch or pocket, or tethered or modified in some way to the goggle, often ending up either lost or hanging off the goggle and becoming a snag hazard. With Bikini-style covers, both front and rear lenses can remain covered during daytime or during transport/storage, protecting the lenses, and can be easily moved out of the way during use.
