Daimons and COVID: Reading from Love and Soul-Making

Daimons are shapeshifters that speak to us in the imaginal realms; some are allies, some are mischievous, some are guardians of our fate as assigned to us at birth, which Plato described. They are paradoxical and express themselves in both the material and immaterial realms. They defy reason. As the Western psyche is anchored in reason and logic, these mysterious contrarians shape-change into figures we no longer recognize—from fairies to infections. They become viruses, for example, that remain elusive and shape-change into new variants, reminding us of their presence. They frustrate us with their demands to be acknowledged. However, if we can remember (because our soul knows) how to see with metaphorical eyes, we can imagine what the daimons and the soul of the world might be asking of us.
