The Economics of Spotify - Joe Rogan Deal, Artists, Controversy, Future of Podcasting

Joe Rogan signed an exclusive deal with Spotify in May this year, which is reported to be worth over $100 million. In this video, we will explore this deal in more detail and try to answer if this was a fair price to be paid for the podcast, and try to figure out how many years the deal will actually last for. There also has been some evidence to show that Joe Rogan is being censored, so we will go into this as well. Apart from the Joe Rogan deal, we will first look into how Spotify actually makes money as a company by going into its financials, and the main factors that are driving its growth and strategy. The reason why people get Spotify Premium is to listen to their favourite artists, so we will explore how they make money from Spotify as well.
