Southern Idaho evening weather forecast: Sunny and mild through the weekend and next week

High pressure will continue to dominate the weather pattern for our region today through the weekend and throughout most of next week. The result will be a continued trend of sunny days and clear nights, but with some patchy smoke now and then. Air quality remains good, but occasionally may bump into the moderate range. For Boise, the average high is now 66°, and the average low is 42°. For the next week at least, daytime highs will be in the mid 70's, with lows in the mid 40's. Mountain areas will enjoy sunny skies and highs near 70°, but frosty nights in the 20's and low 30's. Patchy frost is still possible in the Magic Valley. Long-range forecast models indicate a change is likely late next week, trending towards cooler temperatures and possible showers, much more typical of mid to late October.
