John 5:24-27, Pastor Chris Quintana

John 5:24-27 is where we is our text this morning. It is yet another section of scripture where The Lord makes brief, absolute statements. Verse 24 tells us something every person should know. Not just hear, or read, but know, because there is consequence to what one does upon hearing. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. For all of the cults who claim additional revelation, or the churches who claim a fuller understanding and nuance regarding eternal life Jesus, in His own words, make all such "deeper" understanding simply the folly of man's imagination. Jesus says, "he who hears and believes" and the promise is eternal life. We know this is more than simple acknowledgement, as people every day slip into eternity believing in the historic man, Jesus, but never believe He is savior and/or judge. Nor have they come to Him to cleanse them from sin, by His sacrifice for them. God has put all of this in motion from the beginning of man, scripture makes this abundantly clear. Some accept these truths, while others reject. To some He is the one who saves and offers eternal life, and we rejoice. Others reject and He will be their judge, His words, not mine. Since He came as a man, he can offer what He does to man and it is for them to decide. This makes him uniquely qualified to be a judge, as well as a savior, since He walked among us and spoke as He did.
