South End School

24 May 2022 Had a lovely day having a Visual Poetry Jam with the crew at South End School in Carterton Visual Poetry Jams involve 9 boxes of single coloured items and a whole lot of imagination. We travel the country teaching innovation through creative play. Kids start with an idea, tinker, make fails, iterate, try something new, a new angle a new perspective and they try again. Then they come out the other side with something they are proud of. The students are prompted before we arrive to bring an object that is very sentimental to them. This object is then used in their photographic explorations. Some bring teddies, some bring taonga of cultural significance, some bring rugby cleats. It is what ever is important for that youth. Then we make cool art from it.
