Mitch McConnell to oppose 'slanted and unbalanced' Capitol Riot bill

The US House of Representatives is set to vote on a bipartisan bill to enable an independent investigation into the January 6 Capitol riots. Democratic and Republican leaders would appoint five people each to the commission which would hold subpoena powers to investigate the leadup to the protest While the Democratic-held House is expected to pass the measure, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has vowed to stand against the bill. "I've made the decision to oppose the House Democrats slanted and unbalanced proposal to study the events of January 6". Democrats would need only 10 Republican votes to approve the measure which will be brought before the Senate by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer
