Rare digitalized Super-8 footage of my father driving a Scania 140 through Northern Sweden in 1973 — with the raw sound of an early V8 and whistling turbo. This short film shows my father, Dag “Dagge” Kjellholm, driving the route between Västerås and Kalix in 1973. The truck is a Scania 140 with the classic whistling turbo and the distinctive sound of an early Scania V8 engine. The Super-8 footage was found at my grandmother’s home after my father passed away, where it had been stored since the early 1970s. I transferred and edited the film both as a personal memory and as a small piece of cultural history. The film captures a warm memory of my father, always with a “glint in his eye.” I spent many hours with him on the road when I was a child, and these images bring those memories back to life. The film shows a normal working day of the era with Scania trucks, ASG, Bilspedition and the classic northern route on the E4 highway. It also includes brief glimpses of people rafting timber on the Kalix River and a short stop at the classic truck stop Docksta baren, a window into a world that is now gone. You can also see trucks from the rare companies of Danne Häggström (Kalix) and Hannes Johansson (Båtskärsnäs) driving for Bilspedition. #scania #Scania140 #scaniav8 #super8 #analogfilm #truckhistory #classictrucks #vintagetruck #1970s #sweden #Bilspedition
