NATO Exercise Northern Wedding/Bold Guard (1982)

The Northern Wedding series exercised NATO's shallow-seas campaign, designed to prevent the exit of the Soviet Baltic Fleet into the North Sea and to protect allied convoys in the North Sea and the English Channel. The associated Bold Guard series exercised the defense of Schleswig-Holstein and Denmark. Bold Guard 82 saw the USMC's 4th Marine Amphibious Brigade conduct multiple amphibious landings along the Danish coast, opposed by Danish troops.
