Rood Ashton Hall & Earl Of Mount Edgcumbe THE CORNISHMAN

Rood Ashton Hall & Earl Of Mount Edgcumbe THE CORNISHMAN

Saturday 27 April 2013 saw the GWR pairing of GWR Hall Class 4-6-0 no 4965 Rood Ashton Hall and GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 no 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe to haul THE CORNISHMAN from Bristol to Plymouth. Diesel Hauled Tyseley - Bristol - Tyseley. The first picture is from the light engine movement from Tyseley to Bristol taken of Friday 26th April. Then in the morning of 27th the pair can be seen passing Yatton on what seemed like a very nice sunny day, but once again those northerly winds were out and the temperature was only 7°C. In the evening the return leg was ahead of schedule by over 20 minutes so (with some fortune for those of us waiting there) The Cornishman had to pull into Yatton Up Loop to allow the XC 1E73 Plymouth to Leeds pass (it was meant to have passed at Tiverton). So we were treated to a good start from the GWR pair.
